Sleeper bus collides with tractor-trailer on expressway, 5 injured

A collision between a sleeper bus and a tractor-trailer traveling in the same direction on the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi expressway injured 5 people and caused a traffic jam on the morning of september 6.

At approximately 3:50 h, a sleeper bus registered in Ha Tinh, carrying dozens of passengers, was traveling northbound on the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi expressway. At kilometer 508+000, in Toan Lu commune (formerly Thach Ha district), it collided with the rear of a tractor-trailer moving in the same direction.

The accident injured 5 people on the bus, primarily affecting their necks, arms, and legs. Several other passengers experienced dizziness and minor scratches, managing to open doors and evacuate themselves.

At the scene, the front of the sleeper bus was deformed, its windshield shattered, and much of the passengers' luggage was scattered across the road. The tractor-trailer sustained heavy damage to its rear.

The two vehicles blocked both lanes, causing a traffic jam stretching for hundreds of meters on the northbound expressway from 4 h.

Authorities diverted traffic, guiding vehicles off the expressway at the interchange with provincial road 548, through Dong Loc commune, to National Highway 1.

According to the expressway management unit, at the time of the accident, there was no rain, the road surface was normal, and the traffic safety system was fully operational.
