The memorial service and reburial ceremony saw the attendance of Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc, Tay Ninh provincial leaders, armed forces, and martyrs' relatives. Vinh Hung - Tan Hung Martyrs' Cemetery is currently the resting place for 3,987 martyrs, with 2,806 graves yet to be identified.
The 173 martyrs' remains were searched for and repatriated by teams K70, K71, K73 during the second phase of the 2025-2026 dry season. These units traced numerous sources and witness accounts to locate martyrs' graves still remaining in the neighboring country.

After nearly two months, the teams repatriated 173 martyrs' remains, bringing the total number of remains found in phase 25 to 511. Over 25 phases, forces have searched for and repatriated 9,183 martyrs' remains, of which 282 have been identified by name and hometown.
Speaking at the memorial service, Secretary of the Tay Ninh Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Quyet stated that for over four decades, many martyrs still lay in the neighboring country. He affirmed that the Fatherland, the Party, the State, the military, and their comrades have never forgotten, always striving to bring them home.
"Each remains found means one less family's longing, and each grave built brings another piece of history back to its true origin," Mr. Quyet said.

This search and repatriation effort is part of the "500-Day and Night Campaign" to search for, repatriate, and identify martyrs' remains. The campaign was launched at Quang Tri Ancient Citadel on 2/4. It runs from 15/3/2026 to 27/7/2027, commemorating the 80th anniversary of Invalids and Martyrs' Day. The campaign aims to search for and repatriate approximately 7,000 martyrs' remains, collect samples from unidentified graves, and conduct DNA testing on about 18,000 samples.
