A day earlier, residents and tourists visiting Hon Bo cape and But Pagoda observed several trucks operating unusually along the coastline. Two 3-4 ton trucks alternately entered and exited an area near a large hotel, where an excavator loaded waste into their beds. The vehicles then traveled about 200-300 meters to Hon Bo cape before dumping the waste into the sea.

At the scene, a large pile of waste lay near the waterline, consisting of decaying branches, nylon bags, sacks, discarded materials, and various household refuse. Some waste bags had already been carried away by waves.
According to a representative from Hoang Tien commune police, dumping in this area was not authorized. The waste accumulated after the 2025 storm season. Residents hired an excavator for collection but then transported the waste for improper disposal.

Authorities believe residents dumped the waste on the beach, hoping high tide would carry it away, thereby avoiding costly long-distance transportation for disposal.
Police have ordered an immediate halt to the dumping and are clarifying the responsibilities of involved individuals and organizations. The exact volume of waste dumped has not been quantified, but estimates reach tens of tons.

Hai Tien is over 20 km from Thanh Hoa city center and is a popular coastal tourist destination in recent years, alongside Sam Son and Hai Hoa. Its coastline stretches about 12 km, with many sections retaining a pristine appearance, featuring gentle sandy beaches and casuarina trees.
The Hai Tien tourist area currently has nearly 100 accommodation facilities with about 6,500 rooms, welcoming approximately 1,5 million visitors annually. According to local authorities, the illegal waste dumping not only detracts from its aesthetics but also poses risks to the ecological environment and the destination's image ahead of the summer tourist season.
