The 14th Politburo has 19 members

The 14th Politburo comprises 19 members, including three key party and state leaders: General Secretary To Lam, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and Permanent Member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu.

On the afternoon of 23/1, at the closing session of the 14th National Party Congress, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man announced the results of the Central Committee's first plenum, which took place that morning.

The 14th Politburo now has 19 members, elected with strong endorsement.

Among them, 10 Politburo members from the 13th term were re-elected to the 14th Politburo. These include: General Secretary To Lam; National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; Permanent Member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu; Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front Bui Thi Minh Hoai; Head of the Central Organization Commission Le Minh Hung; General, Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang; General, Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang; Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Duy Ngoc; General, Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army Nguyen Trong Nghia; and Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Do Van Chien.

Nine Central Committee members from the 14th term are joining the Politburo for the first time. They are: Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang; Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung; Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Le Minh Tri; Head of the Central Commission for Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Trinh Van Quyet; Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Commission Nguyen Thanh Nghi; Chairman of the Central Inspection Commission Tran Sy Thanh; Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang; Permanent Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Doan Minh Huan; and Chief of the Central Party Office Pham Gia Tuc.

The Party Charter stipulates that the Politburo is elected by the Central Committee. The Politburo leads, inspects, and supervises the implementation of resolutions from the National Party Congress and the Central Committee. It decides on key issues concerning policies, organization, and personnel. Additionally, it determines the convocation and prepares the content for Central Committee plenums, reporting its work to Central Committee meetings or as requested by the Central Committee.
