Dozens of officers were deployed to the scene. The search proved difficult due to the treacherous terrain, darkness, and the hikers' uncertain location. After more than three hours, rescuers reached the group.
"All three were exhausted, so they were given food, water, and reassurance before being safely escorted down the mountain during the night," a rescue representative said.
Tien, another hiker on the mountain that day, said he encountered the group at the summit as they prepared instant noodles but had run out of water. He offered to hike down with them, but they declined, saying they "didn't want to bother him." He later learned of their rescue.

The 972-meter Hoang Nguu Son mountain, part of the Dong Bo war zone in Phuoc Dong commune, is considered Nha Trang's highest peak. The area has steep slopes, large boulders, and some slippery sections, posing risks for inexperienced hikers.
According to frequent trekkers, first-time climbers should hike with experienced companions, be physically prepared, have proper equipment, and avoid late afternoon climbs or hiking during bad weather.
