Tourist dies in paragliding accident on Son Tra peninsula

A tourist died and the pilot was injured after a paraglider crashed into the forest on Son Tra peninsula.

On the afternoon of 8/7, Hoang Quoc Tuan, a 36-year-old tourist from TP HCM, was paragliding over Son Tra peninsula with Tropical Forest company.

Tuan was accompanied by Le Manh Phu, 41, a pilot from Tropical Forest. Phu piloted the paraglider, with Tuan seated in front.

Around 5:30 PM, while flying over Nam beach on Son Tra peninsula, the paraglider malfunctioned, causing Tuan to fall into the forest near the shore.

Phu managed to fly a short distance further before landing on the beach. He was taken to the hospital. Rescue teams searched the forest for Tuan. His body was found at 7:25 PM near the Bien Dong resort.

Authorities have suspended paragliding activities on Son Tra peninsula to review safety procedures. This includes inspecting equipment, assessing pilot qualifications and certifications, and evaluating licensing processes and terrain.
