According to the Dai Khi Tuong Thuy Van Nam Bo (Southern Regional Hydro-Meteorological Center), from 1-4/10, the city will have strong sunshine during the day, followed by showers in the late afternoons and evenings. Residents should be aware of extreme heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms due to thermal convection.
Rainfall is expected to concentrate in Go Vap, Cu Chi, Hoc Mon, and the former District 12 areas. Specifically, on 2/10, localized heavy rain is possible in the city center.
Tran Van Hung, Deputy Director of the Dai Khi Tuong Thuy Van Nam Bo, stated that on 5-6/10, rain will increase in both area and volume as a low-pressure trough tends to strengthen into a tropical convergence zone.

TP HCM is currently in the peak of its rainy season, meaning rain will be frequent in October, according to Hung. However, the total rainfall for the month is forecast to be close to the multi-year average, with no unusual signs.
On the evening of 30/9, TP HCM experienced widespread heavy rain. Rainfall reached 136 mm in Le Minh Xuan, 108 mm in Thu Duc, 101 mm in Ben Cat, and 100 mm in An Phu. The rain coincided with rush hour, causing deep flooding on many streets, stalled vehicles, and prolonged traffic jams.
According to the Trung Tam Quan Ly Giao Thong va Ha Tang Ky Thuat (Center for Traffic Management and Technical Infrastructure), heavy rain combined with a tidal surge exceeding alarm level 2 overwhelmed drainage systems in some areas. At least 12 streets under the center's management were severely flooded. Notably, a section of Phan Huy Ich street was submerged by over one meter, with water entering buses and residents' homes.
Specialized agencies reported that flooding on the route was also due to dredged material from the Tham Luong - Ben Cat - Rach Nuoc Len canal project accumulating within the canal, narrowing the flow. Rising canal water then flowed back into sewers, reducing drainage capacity. By noon on 1/10, some residential areas in Thu Duc remained flooded.
Units are operating pumping stations and tidal control gates, while also inspecting and addressing construction sites that obstruct drainage. The entire city currently has 159 regularly flooded areas, including 76 in the old TP HCM area, 52 in the old Binh Duong area, and 31 in the old Ba Ria - Vung Tau area.
