At a conference on 26/7, Major General Do Thanh Binh said the Traffic Police Department (under the Ministry of Public Security) is developing 35 data centers to connect ministries and sectors, integrating data on driver's health, taxes, customs, and transport business. Upon completion, drivers will not need to carry any documents other than their citizen identification cards.
"Even vehicle registration, transfer, origin, and quality information will be available in the database. Other sectors and units will not be allowed to require citizens to provide these documents," Binh said.
Retrieving information from the database will eliminate the use of fake licenses, registrations, and insurance, as traffic police will not check physical copies of these documents.
In cases where drivers do not have their citizen identification cards, they can use VNeID. However, the police recommend carrying the physical card in case of accidents where accessing a phone is impossible. The card allows for the quickest retrieval of personal information.

To further digitize the sector, the Traffic Police Department is piloting an AI-powered surveillance and penalty center in Hanoi. This central hub connects to smaller centers nationwide and all surveillance cameras on every road.
The Command Information Center operates like an "emergency center" with three 8-hour shifts, the first starting at 6:30 h. In addition to AI support, each officer on duty has a specific task, such as monitoring violations, compiling violations, notifying vehicle owners, and generating accident reports. The goal is to send traffic violation notifications within two hours.
