At a little after 11 a.m., an Indian coral tree next to a chicken and rice restaurant on Hung Vuong Street in Lam Vien Ward, Da Lat, suddenly fell, landing on a motorbike and damaging the wall and signboard of an adjacent villa.

Mr. Van, the restaurant owner, reported that the weather was clear and the wind wasn't as strong as in previous days. "My restaurant was quite crowded at the time. The young man who owned the motorbike had luckily stepped away from his vehicle and into the restaurant to wait for his order, so he wasn't hit," he said, adding that the Indian coral tree had been there for a long time and showed no signs of weakness before falling.
Local authorities dispatched a team to cut the tree into sections and remove it from the scene later that afternoon.

In recent days, the remnants of Typhoon Wipha in the East Sea have intensified the southwest monsoon, causing heavy rain, strong winds, and damage across Lam Dong province. Numerous trees have been uprooted, some falling on cars, and several houses have had their roofs blown off.
