Trees uprooted, cars crushed after heavy rain in Dak Nong

A heavy downpour accompanied by strong winds on Tuesday afternoon in Bac Gia Nghia ward caused numerous trees to fall, damaging two cars and tearing the roofs off dozens of houses.

Around 1 p.m., a heavy downpour lasting over 30 minutes, coupled with strong gusts of wind, struck Bac Gia Nghia ward (formerly Dak Nong). The storm uprooted numerous trees along Huynh Thuc Khang and Ton Duc Thang streets.

At the 19/8 Guesthouse, two large trees were uprooted, crushing two parked cars. The vehicles sustained heavy damage to their hoods and bodies. "Fortunately, there was no one in the cars at the time," said Trinh Anh, chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Gia Nghia ward (UBND).

The storm also tore the roofs off more than 10 houses and blew down several signs and welcome gates. Power lines and telecommunication cables sagged, with some sections short-circuiting, disrupting traffic and residents' daily lives.

While there were no injuries, the storm caused significant property damage, estimated at billions of Vietnamese dong (VND).

Immediately following the storm, local authorities mobilized police, militia, and residents to clear fallen trees, trim branches, repair infrastructure, and assist affected households in stabilizing their lives.
