Two brothers drown in Nam Dinh

Two young brothers drowned on 29/7 after being left unattended on the shore while their father fished.

Around 6:00 am, Pham Van Toan, 40, from Hai Thinh commune, took his two sons, 11-year-old Pham Quang Vinh and 9-year-old Pham Khanh Phong, to the seawall near their home. Toan left the children playing on the shore while he went out to cast his net.

Over an hour later, Toan returned to the shore and, unable to find his sons, frantically searched the area. With the help of villagers, he found both boys in the water. They were unresponsive and showed signs of having stopped breathing.

After receiving first aid, the boys were taken to the Nam Dinh Rehabilitation Hospital but did not survive.

According to local authorities, the boys were on summer vacation and often accompanied their father to the beach. The area where the tragedy occurred is known for its strong currents and rough waves. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
