Around 1 p.m., a 5-seater car traveling on the expressway towards Ho Chi Minh City collided with a truck from behind in Ben Luc commune. The impact threw the 5-seater, causing its front end to hit the median barrier, resulting in severe damage. The rear of the car was crumpled, and the front of the truck was also deformed.
While authorities were clearing the scene, approximately 30 minutes later and about 2 km away, another accident occurred. A 16-seater passenger bus, moving slowly due to congestion, was struck from behind by a 5-seater car. Subsequently, a truck, unable to react in time, crashed into them, causing a multi-vehicle collision. The 5-seater car was sandwiched between the other two vehicles, suffering extensive damage to its front and rear.
The two accidents, occurring in close succession, led to serious congestion on the expressway. Police had to reroute traffic, directing vehicles to National Highway 1.
The Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway, 50 km long with four lanes and two emergency lanes, began operation in 2010. After years of service, increasing traffic volume has resulted in frequent congestion and accidents. The expressway section is currently undergoing expansion.
