The visit, scheduled from 2/4 to 5/4, includes several key engagements. The ship's command group will pay courtesy calls to leaders of the Da Nang People's Committee and the Navy Region 3 Command. These activities aim to strengthen the friendly relations between the navies and people of both nations.
Beyond diplomatic protocols, the delegation will host a press conference and a reception on board the ship. They will also participate in sports exchanges with officers and soldiers of Navy Region 3. Additionally, the crew plans to lay wreaths at the city's Martyrs' Memorial and visit local scenic spots.

A significant part of the visit will be joint sea training between the two forces. This exercise offers an opportunity for the navies to exchange professional experience and coordinate in search and rescue operations, as well as ensure maritime security.
The Asahi's visit occurs amidst robustly developing Vietnam-Japan relations. The two nations elevated their ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 11/2023.
According to the Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs, this activity enhances mutual understanding and trust. It aligns with the policy of promoting defense cooperation between the two countries in the evolving regional context.
