Hundreds search for two boys missing at sea

Two 12-year-old boys went missing while swimming at a beach in Thanh Hoa, prompting authorities to mobilize hundreds of people and numerous resources for an hours-long search.

On 2/4, authorities launched a search for Hoang Ba Hung and Hoang Trung Luong, both 12 years old, who went missing after swimming at Hai Binh beach in Thanh Hoa. A representative from the Hai Binh Ward People's Committee stated that yesterday afternoon, a group of four children from the Giang Tin residential group, Truc Lam ward, went to the beach. Two children returned home, but Hung and Luong stayed behind to continue swimming. By the evening, their families, unable to find the boys, began a search.

At the beach, relatives discovered the boys' clothes, sandals, and bicycles left behind. This discovery prompted a large-scale response, with hundreds of people, including police, military personnel, and local residents, mobilized for the search. Efforts continued through yesterday night and today.

Search teams deployed multiple methods to cover the extensive area. These included dragging nets along the shore, sweeping the seabed with lines, and using canoes to expand the search across tens of kilometers of open sea.

Police and self-defense militia were deployed to support the victims' families. *Lam Son*

As of the evening of 2/4, search efforts continued, but authorities had not yet determined the boys' whereabouts. Weather conditions at Hai Binh beach were favorable, with clear skies and light winds. However, teams temporarily halted some offshore search activities at night for safety reasons.

Authorities believe large waves may have swept the two boys far from the incident location.
