Around 12:00, driver Ngo Van Cuong was operating a Quang Dung sleeper bus on National Highway 1, heading north-south. Upon reaching Can Loc commune, he slowed and stopped. At that moment, driver Pham Van Trieu, operating a Duc Cu sleeper bus traveling in the same direction behind, crashed into the rear of the Quang Dung bus.

The 35-year-old bus assistant from the Duc Cu bus was trapped in the cabin and died. Three other victims were injured and taken to the hospital for emergency treatment. Passengers on the Quang Dung bus were shaken but fortunately escaped injury.

At the scene, the front of the Duc Cu sleeper bus was deformed, its windshield shattered, and the cabin heavily damaged. The rear of the Quang Dung bus was ripped open, with debris scattered across the road.

National Highway 1 through Can Loc commune features a concrete median, with each lane about 5 meters wide. A bus stop is located about 3 meters from the accident site.

The traffic police department of Ha Tinh provincial police is deploying officers to direct traffic and investigate the cause of the accident.
