Two people die in bakery fire

A fire at a house in sub-quarter 2, Phu Yen commune, serving as both a residence and a bakery, resulted in the deaths of two individuals on the morning of 30/4.

The blaze erupted around 4:30 a.m. in a one-story house located at the central market, sub-quarter 2. Within minutes, the fire intensified, completely engulfing the structure.

Regional Team 5 of the Son La Provincial Police Fire Prevention, Fighting, and Rescue Department dispatched two fire trucks and 16 officers to the scene. Upon arrival, the fire had already engulfed the house, threatening to spread to adjacent kiosks.

Authorities formed two teams to combat the flames: one approached from the main entrance, while the other moved to the rear to cool the structure and prevent further spread. By approximately 5:00 a.m., the fire was brought under control.

During the scene inspection, authorities discovered two deceased victims in the bathroom: a 50-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman. Both were from Tam Hong commune, Phu Tho province, and were temporarily residing in Phu Yen.

The house, approximately 50 square meters, featured a baking oven at the rear and a display area for selling bread at the front. The fire destroyed significant property used for both daily living and production. The cause of the fire and the full extent of the damage are currently under investigation.

Leaders from the Son La Provincial Police and Phu Yen communal authorities visited the scene to offer condolences and provide support to the victims' families.
