On the afternoon of 8/9, 90 boxes containing 1.7 tons of Avac ASF Live vaccine were being prepared for export to the Philippines the following morning. The Philippines government ordered 600,000 doses from Vietnam after authorizing its use in July 2024. The first batch of 150,000 doses was shipped earlier.

Professor Nguyen Thi Huong of the Vietnam Veterinary Science and Technology Association acknowledged ongoing debate surrounding the African swine fever vaccine. However, she emphasized that the second shipment to the Philippines validates its efficacy. This presents an opportunity to introduce Vietnamese veterinary vaccines to the region and globally, enhancing the status of Vietnam's veterinary sector and its scientific and technological achievements.
