Vietnam Vibes contest launched: capturing Vietnam's essence through photos and videos

VnExpress launches the "Vietnam Vibes" photo and short video contest, inviting readers to reflect on the nation's glorious journey on the occasion of its 80th National Day and share their love for the country.

Over the past 80 years, Vietnam has navigated significant historical milestones, from the struggle for liberation to innovation and international integration. Each stage bears the indelible mark of the Vietnamese people.

VnExpress has launched the "Vietnam Vibes" contest, inviting all Vietnamese people at home and abroad, as well as international friends, to reflect on this journey through individual perspectives. Each photograph and short film submitted will contribute to a multifaceted portrayal of 80 years of history and the enduring patriotism of the Vietnamese people.

Readers can submit their photos/short videos here.

Submission requirements

Vietnam Vibes comprises two categories: photos and videos. Photo submissions should be in digital format (PNG or JPG). The shortest dimension must be at least 3,000 pixels, and the file size should be a minimum of 2MB. Photos must be realistic and unaltered. No collages, additions, deletions, or manipulations are permitted. Photos should not have borders, names, watermarks, or location information. Each submission requires a complete caption.

Video submissions should be in vertical format, under 90 seconds in length, MP4 format, and Full HD quality or higher, with a maximum file size of 200MB. Videos can be recorded with any device capable of filming, as long as the technical requirements are met. The content should be clear, align with the contest's theme, and be original work owned by the submitter. Copied videos or those using unauthorized images, sounds, or dialogue will be disqualified. If individuals appear in the video, their consent or that of their legal guardians is required.

Each participant may submit no more than one entry per category. The author's name will be taken from their Citizen Identity Card or passport. Submissions should not contain advertising.

Content criteria

Submissions can showcase Vietnam's people, cultural values, and natural landscapes to inspire national pride and aspirations for development. They can also reflect Vietnam's achievements in various aspects of life, culture, and society, especially during the period of innovation, development, and international integration. The inclusion of the Vietnamese national flag is encouraged.

Submissions must adhere to the policies of the Party and the laws of the State, as well as the contest rules. They must also respect cultural traditions and customs.

Timeline and prizes

Vietnam Vibes will accept submissions from 23/7 to 23/8, alongside online voting on the contest website. Finalists will be announced on 25/8, and judging will take place from 25/8 to 29/8. The awards ceremony will be held at the VnExpress headquarters during the first week of September.

Each category (First, Second, Third, and Encouragement) will have one prize. The Encouragement prize will be awarded to the entry most shared on social media or with the most likes on the contest website.

The judging panel consists of three experts: Associate Professor Dr. Lam Minh Chau, Senior Lecturer at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and PhD in Anthropology from the University of Cambridge; diva Hong Nhung; and travel blogger Khoai Lang Thang. They will evaluate the submissions based on technical skill and cultural relevance to select the winners.

Vietnam Vibes is not just an artistic competition but also a platform for each Vietnamese person to share their unique story about their country.
