The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reports that from 24-26/4, the cold air will remain stable, resulting in cloudy skies and scattered showers and thunderstorms, primarily in the late afternoon and evening. Daytime weather will be dry, with temperatures generally below 29 degrees C.
Localities such as Phu Tho, Lao Cai, Hanoi, and Quang Ninh may experience evening and nighttime showers. Residents should prioritize daytime recreational and sightseeing activities. Those participating in outdoor evening events should monitor the weather and prepare for potential thunderstorms.
US-based Accuweather forecasts that Hanoi will see temperatures ranging from 23-29 degrees C over this weekend, with a 33% chance of thunderstorms and 70% cloud cover. Higher elevations over 1,500 m, such as Sa Pa (Lao Cai), will have cooler temperatures of 15-23 degrees C. Viet Tri (Phu Tho), the main site for the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day ceremony, will experience temperatures between 22-30 degrees C.
Central Vietnam, from Thanh Hoa to Hue, will continue to experience showers and thunderstorms on 25/4, with localized heavy rain and strong storms possible. Temperatures will range from 31-33 degrees C. By 26/4, rain will decrease quickly, giving way to sunny skies and a slight temperature increase, with general temperatures between 32-35 degrees C, not yet reaching intense heat levels.
For the South Central Coast, including Da Nang and Nha Trang, two days from 25-26/4 will see little rain and temperatures around 32-34 degrees C, creating favorable conditions for tourism.
During the holiday, the Central Highlands and southern regions will be sunny. The Central Highlands will see peak temperatures of 32-35 degrees C, while the South will reach 34-36 degrees C. Widespread heat will occur between 12h-15h, however, it will not reach intense levels.
Specifically for TP HCM, 25-26/4 will be rain-free, with hot conditions in the midday and afternoon, and maximum temperatures around 35-36 degrees C.

Looking further ahead to the 30/4-1/5 holiday period, northern Vietnam will continue to experience scattered showers and thunderstorms in some areas. From 1 to 3/5, sunny afternoons will emerge, and temperatures will increase slightly. Central and southern regions will maintain sunny days, with localized showers and thunderstorms possible in the late afternoon and evening. Some areas may still experience hot weather.
In 2026, Hung Kings' Commemoration Day (10/3 lunar calendar) falls on sunday 26/4. Workers will receive a compensatory day off on monday 27/4, creating a three-day holiday from 25-27/4. This period is close to the 30/4-1/5 holiday, leading many to extend their break into a nearly one-week travel period.
