The naturalization ceremony took place yesterday, 28/4.
Geovane was born on 14/4/1994 in Minas Gerais, Brazil. He developed through domestic academies, then played professionally in lower-tier leagues for Primavera, Matonense, Sao Carlos, and Maringa. In 2019, he moved to Vietnam to play for Sai Gon FC (now defunct).

Subsequently, Geovane played for Ha Noi FC in 2021, The Cong (2022), Cong An Ha Noi (2023-2024), Ha Tinh (2024-2025), and Ninh Binh (2025-2026). The 1,88 m tall striker is left-footed, possessing skillful technique and speed. In 130 V-League appearances, Geovane scored 42 goals. This season alone, he has scored 7 goals and provided 3 assists in 17 V-League matches.
In the V-League, each team is allowed to register one naturalized Vietnamese player of foreign origin. However, league regulations stipulate that players can only be registered under one player status from the start of the season. Therefore, Geovane must wait until next season, 2026-2027, to play as a naturalized player.
Geovane becomes the 6th naturalized player currently competing in the V-League. Three other naturalized Brazilian players are Nguyen Xuan Son of Nam Dinh, Do Hoang Hen (Ha Noi FC), and Do Phi Long (Da Nang). Meanwhile, Tran Trung Hieu of Becamex TP HCM is of Ugandan origin, while Hoang Vu Samson of PVF-CAND is of Nigerian origin.
Geovane is completing the process of transferring his football federation registration from Brazil to Vietnam to be eligible for the national team. If this striker is called up by coach Kim Sang-sik, Vietnam's attack could potentially feature the trio of Hen – Loc – Son.
