Foreign tourists are impressed by the convenience and affordability of sleeper buses in Vietnam, but some express concerns about safety, especially when traveling through mountainous regions or transferring to shuttle buses in the middle of the night.
Following a series of serious accidents, India has tightened the AIS-119 standard for sleeper buses, regulating design, escape routes, and fire prevention systems.
British tourists Armand and Tiegan took a sleeper bus on their first trip to Sa Pa, with tickets costing 400,000 VND each way. The bus offered amenities like massage beds, drinks, blankets, pillows, and Wi-Fi.
