Sleeper bus fire scene: 7 dead

A passenger bus was destroyed after hitting a guardrail on national highway 1, with shattered windows, deformed bed frames, and passenger belongings scattered across the grass, on the morning of 21/7.

The sleeper bus was reduced to a steel frame after the fire on national highway 1, in Hung Thinh commune, Dong Nai province, in the early morning of 21/7.

Around 2h, the bus, carrying 28 people including 4 children, was traveling from Khanh Hoa to TP HCM. Moving in the north-south direction, the vehicle struck a metal guardrail on the right side of the road. It then crashed into another section of guardrail before stopping. Fire erupted from underneath, quickly engulfing the vehicle, resulting in 7 fatalities and 5 injuries.

A section of guardrail blocked the front of the bus. Shattered windows and deformed bed frames were visible due to the intense heat.

Reporting to Nguyen Van Ut, Chairman of Dong Nai Province People's Committee, at the scene, Colonel Tran Anh Son, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police, stated that the driver steered right, causing the vehicle to collide with a metal guardrail about 25 m long. Following the impact, fire erupted from underneath the vehicle, near the fuel tank area.
