Sleeper bus collision injures three

Two sleeper buses traveling in the same direction collided on National Highway 1 in An Chau commune, injuring three people early on 21/7.

The incident occurred around 4:50 h on 21/7 when a Nghe An-plated sleeper bus, traveling southbound on National Highway 1, slowed down and stopped on the roadside near the intersection with N2 road in An Chau commune. Moments later, another sleeper bus, also heading southbound, crashed forcefully into the rear of the stopped vehicle.

Three occupants of the rear bus—Nguyen Thi Phuong Anh, 21; Dinh Van Loi, 35; and Ho Thi Huong, 46—were injured and taken to the hospital for emergency treatment. One victim suffered a fractured spinal vertebra. Passengers on the Nghe An-plated bus were alarmed but fortunately unharmed. A medical staff member stated that one of the victims had just arrived from the airport and was en route home when the accident occurred.

At the scene, the rear of the Nghe An-plated bus was almost completely torn open. The front of the second vehicle was deformed, with shattered glass scattered everywhere and oil spilled on the road.

National Highway 1 through An Chau commune features a median strip, with each lane approximately 5 m wide, bordered by residential houses and kiosks. It was not raining at the time of the accident.

The Traffic Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police is dispatching officers to manage traffic flow and investigate the cause of the accident. The scene was cleared after 9 h.
