Checkpoint Charlie, Germany

Checkpoint Charlie, a renowned Berlin attraction, once served as a border crossing between East and West Berlin during the Cold War. While tourists frequently queue to photograph the guardhouse and actors portraying guards, the current post is not the original structure.

After the Berlin Wall fell, authorities dismantled the original checkpoint. The present structure is a replica, rebuilt for tourism. The authentic metal guardhouse now resides at the Allied Museum in Berlin's Zehlendorf district.

Juliet's Balcony, Italy

Casa di Giulietta (Juliet's House) in Verona is a popular destination for tourists captivated by the love story of Romeo and Juliet.

The 13th-century house once belonged to the Dal Cappello family, whose name resembles Capulet, Juliet's family in Shakespeare's play. Yet, no evidence confirms this was the character's residence.

Between 1939 and 1940, Verona renovated the house to match Shakespeare's setting and added the famous balcony, strengthening the structure's connection to the fictional love story. Anh: Ar inspiredpencil

King Arthur's Round Table, England

The round table associated with the legend of King Arthur hangs in the Great Hall in Winchester. Tradition says King Lodegrean gave Arthur and his wife a wedding gift: a round table with 150 seats, along with 100 knights to assist the king.

Legend states King Arthur lived around the 5th or 6th century, whereas this table dates to the 13th century. It was likely created for an engagement festival or tournament around 1290.

Dracula's Castle, Romania

Bran Castle in Transylvania is a popular attraction linked to the vampire figure Dracula.

The castle is real, built in the 14th century, but its historical connection to Dracula is unclear. The structure has little association with Vlad the Impaler, the character believed to inspire Dracula in the novel.

Bram Stoker, author of the novel Dracula, never visited Romania. Therefore, the connection between Bran Castle and the character Dracula primarily results from tourism promotion. Anh: Castle quest chronicles

Knossos Palace, Greece

Knossos Palace on Crete is associated with the Minoan civilization and the Greek myth of the half-human, half-bull Minotaur. While some parts are genuine ruins, not everything tourists see today is original.

British archaeologist Sir Arthur Evans reconstructed the palace in the early 20th century. He used modern building materials to recreate parts of the structure, which dates to approximately 1900-1350 BC.
