Hatoyama chef appointed Japanese culinary culture ambassador in Vietnam

Mr. Fuku Nguyen, head chef of the Hatoyama restaurant system, was appointed Japanese culinary culture ambassador in Vietnam on 24/3.

The appointment ceremony was organized by the Embassy of Japan in coordination with the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Naoki Ito presented the decision to Chef Nguyen Ba Phuoc (Chef Fuku Nguyen) of the Hatoyama Japanese seafood restaurant system.

Chef Fuku has dedicated 15 years to pursuing the philosophy of traditional Japanese cuisine. He is the first Vietnamese person to receive the "Taste of Japan" gold badge from the Japanese government, making him one of the 9 foreign nationals worldwide to earn this distinction.

During his studies in Japan, he also achieved notable accomplishments: a certificate of merit from the President of the Hokkaido Chefs' Association and an honorary badge for active members of the Hokkaido Association for the Study of Traditional Japanese Cuisine.

After returning to Vietnam in 2022, Chef Fuku joined the Hatoyama restaurant system. Over 5 years with the brand, the new ambassador and Hatoyama have achieved significant milestones: the success of the Taste of Japan event series, premium seasonal menus, and the art of Omakase Kaiseki cuisine.

"The recognition Chef Fuku Nguyen received reflects Hatoyama restaurant system's strategic vision. The restaurant serves as a bridge between Vietnamese and Japanese cuisines, striving to spread the flavors of the land of cherry blossoms in Vietnam", a Hatoyama representative shared.

With efficient transportation, many rare seafood varieties from Toyosu Fish Market (Tokyo) arrive at Hatoyama within 24 hours. This combination of premium ingredients and a creative environment helps Chef Fuku and the system create authentic and luxurious Japanese dining experiences.

During this occasion, Chef Fuku introduced the specialty dish Ikameshi (handmade glutinous rice-stuffed squid). This dish debuted in Vietnam at the Embassy of Japan. Following the event, Ikameshi will be available on the menu at all 8 Hatoyama restaurant locations.
