Tan Son Nhat International Airport is among the 11 nominees for "Asia's Leading Airport 2026," a prestigious category in the World Travel Awards (WTA). Announced by WTA in 4/2026, the airport competes with regional aviation hubs: Changi (Singapore), Hong Kong, Incheon (South Korea), Narita (Japan), and Suvarnabhumi (Thailand). This continued recognition underscores Tan Son Nhat's key role in the regional aviation network. The category is competitive, with many airports investing in technology and services to improve passenger experience.
Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards (WTA) honors global leading brands and destinations. Its influence leads experts to dub it the "Oscars of the tourism industry."
Major airports like Hong Kong and Changi maintain their leadership by implementing biometric technology, passport-free check-in, and extensive shopping and entertainment ecosystems. Tan Son Nhat is upgrading its infrastructure and service quality to meet increasing passenger demands.

Beyond the airport nomination, Vietnamese aviation also sees positive developments in ground services. The SH Premium Lounge at Tan Son Nhat is nominated for "Asia's leading domestic airport lounge 2026." This lounge is highly regarded for its design, combining Vietnamese cultural elements with modern aesthetics, alongside amenities for premium guests.
The voting portal for the World Travel Awards 2026 Asia categories is open on the organizer's official website. Results will be announced at the Asia regional awards ceremony later this year.
Skytrax previously listed Tan Son Nhat Airport among the top 10 best airports globally for passenger capacity in 2018, 2019, and 2022. These achievements reflect the efforts to improve service quality at Vietnam's busiest airport amid continuously rising passenger numbers.
