Topas Ecolodge marks its presence on the world resort map

Topas Ecolodge, Sapa, was recently honored by National Geographic Traveller in its Lakes and Mountains Collection 2026 list.

This is the second time the resort has been the sole representative from Vietnam on the list. Additionally, the resort was recently recognized by Travel + Leisure in its top 10 best highland resorts in Vietnam.

National Geographic Traveller's Lakes and Mountains Collection list is published once every two years, showcasing notable destinations worldwide. This marks the second consecutive time a Vietnamese representative has appeared on this list, affirming Sapa's position as one of the leading mountain resort destinations on the international hospitality map.

Situated on two gentle hilltops, Topas Ecolodge features 50 bungalows and villas, offering a retreat amidst the vast Northwest mountains. Each bungalow is constructed from local granite, blending the essence of traditional Vietnamese stilt houses with minimalist Nordic design. Private balconies provide a tranquil space for guests to immerse themselves in nature's beauty, while two infinity pools nestled on the mountainside offer serene views of Ban Ho valley and the undulating mountain ranges.

National Geographic highlighted the resort's focus on wellness: "Holistic wellness is at the heart of the Topas experience. Rice Spa is not just a place for healing, but a fusion of traditional remedies and modern techniques, inspired by local culture and natural ingredients."

Specifically, National Geographic suggests guests should not miss the Red Dao herbal bath, a centuries-old secret remedy believed to restore energy and soothe both body and mind after long journeys.

Beyond the peaceful ambiance of the resort, Topas Ecolodge also acts as a bridge, connecting guests with the rich culture of the Northwest. Activities range from exploratory treks through villages and challenging mountain bike rides to being the finish line for the long-standing Vietnam Mountain Marathon. At the resort, complimentary cultural workshops also offer guests an opportunity to experience the highland heritage.

In line with National Geographic's ethos, the article emphasizes Topas Ecolodge's role in sustainable tourism development: "Sustainability is the guiding principle for responsible luxury tourism here. From the eco-heated swimming pool system and wastewater treatment system to the commitment to minimizing single-use plastics – all demonstrate respect for nature."
