Matvei Rumiantsev, a 22-year-old Russian citizen, was found guilty of assault causing actual bodily harm to his girlfriend between 17-18/1/2025 and of obstructing justice during his trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court in East London on 28/1.
The court acquitted Rumiantsev of charges of rape and strangulation.
Last week, the unnamed girlfriend appeared in court, stating that Rumiantsev had repeatedly assaulted and raped her, and that Barron had "saved her life".
Barron, 19, called British police in the early hours of 18/1/2025 after witnessing the female friend being beaten during a Facetime call. In an email to police about the case, he stated that he had met the woman through social media and "saw a shirtless, dark-haired man" holding the phone, then a few seconds later saw her "crying while being beaten".

Rumiantsev stated that he had argued with his girlfriend that night. He admitted to being "jealous" of the woman's friendship with Barron, adding that they had argued about this issue in 2024.
"I explained to her that I was upset about her confiding in Barron Trump", Rumiantsev said. "I don't control her, but I tried to tell her that if she wasn't happy seeing my messages with a girlfriend from 10 years ago, then perhaps she would understand how I felt seeing her texting someone else at that hour".
He denied the prosecutor's accusation that he answered Barron Trump's call in 1/2025 to assert his "authority" over his girlfriend. Rumiantsev also claimed the woman was "flirting" with Barron.
Rumiantsev is scheduled to be sentenced on 27/3.
