Guinness World Records announced on 27/1 that Jude Owens, a two-year-old from Manchester, England, became the youngest person to successfully execute a "double pot" in snooker, achieving the feat at 2 years and 261 days old. A "double pot" is a technique where two balls are pocketed into two different holes with a single cue ball strike.
Guinness later confirmed that Jude also became the youngest person to perform a "cushion shot" – where the cue ball hits one or more cushions before contacting a target ball to pocket it – at 2 years and 302 days old.
Snooker is a cue sport played on a large table with six pockets. The game uses 22 balls: one white cue ball and 21 colored target balls. The objective is to accumulate points by legally potting designated target balls.

Luke Owens, Jude's father, said his son first showed talent when he hit a ball at two and a half years old. "I think I knew as soon as he picked up the cue, it just looked so natural to him," Luke said.
Despite his small stature, Jude has found ways to play on a standard-sized snooker table designed for adults.
"It was difficult at first. We often had to use a stool for him to stand on," Owens explained. "But eventually, we found a cooking chair and repurposed it for him to stand on and play snooker."
When asked who would win if he and his dad played, Jude confidently replied, "Me!"
"He hasn't beaten me yet," said Owens, who has played billiards since he was 10. "But I think in a few years, he'll easily beat me."
The young boy previously appeared at the 2025 English Snooker Championship, where he met professional players.
Beyond snooker, Jude is a fan of Manchester United football club, particularly admiring captain Bruno Fernandes. He also knows John Denver's song "Take Me Home, Country Roads" by heart.
"Jude has achieved quite a lot in a short time," Owens said. "Will he become a world champion one day?"
