Police from Prey Veng and Kampong Speu provinces collaborated to arrest Keo Daro, 30, on the evening of 4/4. Daro was a suspect in a stolen car case in Peamrok district in March, following a report from the vehicle owner.
Daro, a local car workshop owner, was accused of buying a stolen Hyundai for 1,600 USD and then reselling it for 2,300 USD without proper legal documents.
However, as police apprehended Daro and placed him in their vehicle for transport to the station for questioning, a crowd gathered and erected iron fences around the police car, seemingly to free the suspect, Cambodian police reported on 5/4.

Video from the scene showed a chaotic situation as the crowd confronted police. An officer fired a warning shot to restore order.
Police arrested two suspects, 26 and 56 years old, on charges of obstructing public officials. They are also searching for other individuals suspected of involvement in the violence.
"They attacked with hammers, axes, bricks, and stones. Many police vehicles were severely damaged. Who will take responsibility? Prey Veng provincial forces spent nearly two weeks investigating to solve the case, but the people attacked them without fully understanding the situation," Prey Veng provincial police stated.
