Saudi officials have not attributed blame to any party and did not mention Houthi in their statement. The armed group in Yemen has not commented on the incident. However, a diplomatic source stated that Houthi missiles struck the airport.
Saudi Arabia had earlier announced that operations at King Khalid Airport were suspended, with damage assessments ongoing. According to one source, the attack necessitated the mobilization of a large number of doctors by Saudi health authorities to manage the severe emergency, a rare occurrence in the country.
"I was at gate 403 and saw gate 401 hit, many people were injured, everyone panicked and fled", a witness recounted the moment the domestic terminal of King Khalid Airport was attacked.

The embassies of the US, Canada, Germany, and Spain in Saudi Arabia urged their citizens to avoid the King Khalid Airport area. A senior Western diplomatic official noted that some embassies have prohibited their staff from using the airport next week.
Hours after the attack, the Saudi-led military coalition reported that a flying object fell near King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, with no immediate clarity on damage or casualties. In the early hours of 11/10, the Saudi coalition announced it had intercepted a missile in the area southeast of the capital, Riyadh.
The conflict in Yemen escalated again in July after the United Nations-brokered ceasefire collapsed. This occurred amidst ongoing hostilities in the Middle East, which are destabilizing the region and impacting energy supplies.
