Train crashes into bus in Bangkok, 8 people killed

A freight train collided with a bus across the railway tracks, causing the vehicle to erupt in flames and killing at least 8 people.

The accident occurred this afternoon near Makkasan station on Asok-Din Daeng road, Huai Khwang district in Bangkok, involving a freight train, a bus on route 206, and several other vehicles. At least 8 fatalities have been confirmed, and 25 individuals sustained injuries.

Video footage from the scene captured the bus positioned on the railway tracks moments before the train's impact. The train then dragged the bus, causing it to catch fire. Rescue teams discovered 8 bodies inside the bus after the blaze was brought under control.

Thailand's Deputy Minister of Transport Kittikan Chomduang Jaruworapolkul, Bangkok Mayor, and the director of the bus company were present at the scene to oversee the response.
