White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced on social media platform X that US President Donald Trump will speak about Iran at 9 p.m. on 1/4 (9 a.m. on 2/4 Hanoi time).
Leavitt provided no further details. However, the announcement follows a month-long US-Israel and Iran conflict. President Trump recently signaled a desire for a deal with Tehran. US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth also stated on 31/3 that "the coming days will be decisive".

On 31/3, President Trump suggested the war with Iran could end in two to three weeks. He argued that the US goal of "weakening Iran's military" has largely been achieved. He added that nations dependent on Middle Eastern oil should take responsibility for shipping their own oil through the Strait of Hormuz, implying the US might not lead in reopening this vital waterway.
Iran launched a retaliatory campaign after a US-Israel attack on 28/2. It targeted military and energy infrastructure across the Middle East with missiles and drones. Tehran has also nearly completely blockaded the Strait of Hormuz, a route for about 20% of the world's crude oil supply. Iran stated "non-hostile vessels" may pass if they coordinate with Tehran and comply with announced security regulations.
The conflict has resulted in over 3,000 deaths across the Middle East, primarily in Iran and Lebanon.
