U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on March 1 that U.S. forces attacked an Iranian Jamaran-class frigate at the start of an airstrike campaign against Iran. The ship is now submerged in the Gulf of Oman at Chah Bahar port.
President Donald Trump later posted on social media that, according to information he had just received, U.S. forces had destroyed and sunk nine Iranian navy ships.
“A few of them were quite large and played important roles. We are targeting the remaining ships, and they will also soon be at the bottom of the sea,” he stated.

According to the White House, U.S. forces also attacked Iran's naval headquarters. “We have destroyed most of their naval headquarters. Besides that, the Iranian navy is still operating very effectively!” Trump sarcastically remarked.
U.S. and Israeli forces launched an attack on Iran early on February 28, targeting defense and intelligence facilities, along with numerous high-ranking officials and generals. CENTCOM stated that U.S. B-2 bombers used 2,000-pound (over 900 kg) bombs to strike Iranian ballistic missiles.
Iran later announced a retaliatory campaign targeting Israeli territory, as well as numerous U.S. bases in various Middle Eastern countries. Iranian forces killed three American soldiers and severely injured 5 others. Trump announced he would avenge the servicemen, and the campaign in Iran could last 4-5 weeks.
According to the Iran Red Crescent Society, at least 201 people were killed and over 700 people were injured across the country due to the U.S. and Israeli attacks.
