US threatens continued attacks on Iran if no agreement reached

US officials declare forces in the Middle East are ready to resume fighting if Iran rejects a peace agreement.

"Iran can choose a prosperous future, a golden bridge, and we hope they do so for their people. If Iran makes the wrong choice, they will face blockades and airstrikes targeting their infrastructure, electricity, and energy," Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated today at a Pentagon press conference.

He also warned that the blockade of Iranian seaports and economic pressure would continue as long as necessary, unless Tehran makes a "wise choice."

The administration of President Donald Trump on 15/4 expressed optimism about reaching an agreement to end hostilities with Iran, while also stating it would increase economic pressure if Tehran continues to act tough.

"This is not an evenly matched fight. We know what equipment they are moving and where they are taking it. They are digging up remaining launchers and missiles without the ability to replace them. Iran lacks a defense industry and cannot replenish its offensive or defensive capabilities," Hegseth added.

Also at the press conference, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine stated that US forces are "ready to resume large-scale combat operations almost immediately."

According to him, the US Navy will pursue all Iranian-flagged vessels or vehicles attempting to provide material support to Iran. Ships trying to bypass the blockade of Iranian seaports will be intercepted. "If they do not comply with the blockade, we will use force. Enforcement will take place in both Iranian territorial waters and international waters," he stated.

General Caine also stated that a total of 13 ships turned back instead of attempting to break the blockade, adding that no vessel has been boarded by US forces for inspection to date.

Iran has not yet commented on the statements from Pentagon officials.

US forces began enforcing the blockade of Iranian ports on 13/4, one day after peace talks in Pakistan concluded without an agreement. Accordingly, the US will intercept all vessels traveling to or from Iranian ports in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman, as well as ships that have paid fees to Iran to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

Mohsen Rezaei, military advisor to Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, warned on 15/4 that Iran would sink US ships in the Strait of Hormuz if Washington seeks to control this strategic region.
