Bentley has named its inaugural electric vehicle "Torcal", a moniker inspired by the El Torcal de Antequera nature reserve in southern Spain, an area known for its distinctive limestone formations. The name also derives from the Latin word "torquere", linking it to the English term "torque".
The Torcal will join the Continental GT, Flying Spur, and Bentayga as Bentley's fourth vehicle line, and will be the only electric model in its current product portfolio. While detailed specifications are pending official release, Bentley has confirmed the new model will measure 5 meters in length, making it smaller than the Bentayga.
Sharing its hardware and platform with the Porsche Cayenne Electric, the Torcal will feature an 800V architecture. This advanced system allows for rapid charging, adding 160 km of range in just 7 minutes. The vehicle is expected to house a battery capacity of approximately 108 kWh, offering an estimated driving range of 483-563 km, according to the manufacturer.
Bentley has not yet disclosed specific power output figures, but the Torcal will come equipped with two standard electric motors and all-wheel drive. If it utilizes the Cayenne Electric's drivetrain, the Torcal could deliver between 402 and 1,139 horsepower.
In terms of design, the Torcal adopts the brand's new aesthetic, first showcased on the EXP 15 Concept last year. This design language emphasizes a monolithic form and a vertical grille. The interior of the Torcal will blend Bentley's traditional luxury with modern elements like curved screens and Audi's multi-function levers.

The Torcal is designed to expand Bentley's product line rather than replace the Bentayga, which will continue to be sold alongside it. Bentley has affirmed that the gasoline-powered Bentayga SUV will see a new generation later this decade, aligning with the company's more gradual transition to electrification. This strategy provides SUV buyers with an additional option without forcing a switch to electric vehicles.
The luxury electric SUV, Bentley Torcal, is scheduled to make its public debut in London, England on 23/9.
