BYD Dolphin 2026 launches, nearly 100 million dong cheaper

BYD's pure electric B-segment hatchback model receives minor exterior upgrades, a larger battery capacity, and additional features, priced at 569 million dong.

On 20/4, BYD Vietnam launched an upgraded version of the Dolphin, shifting from China-imported to Thailand-imported. The car offers only one version, similar to the previous generation, priced at 569 million dong. For the first 1,000 customers, a promotional price of 499 million dong is available.

The 569 million dong price of the Thailand-imported Dolphin 2026 is 90 million dong lower than the previous China-imported generation. Lower import taxes contribute to the Dolphin's more accessible price.

The BYD Dolphin 2026 retains the same wheelbase, width, and height, while its overall length increases by 165 mm. The car's design sees minor changes, primarily to the sportier front and rear bumper designs. It still comes with 16-inch tires, MacPherson front suspension, and a torsion beam rear suspension.

The car's interior maintains the same layout. The cockpit features a 12,8-inch touchscreen infotainment display, the largest in its segment, capable of rotating 90 degrees vertically or horizontally.

Upgrades focus on convenience. The car now has a 6-way power-adjustable driver's seat and a 4-way adjustable passenger seat. In the previous generation, all seats were manually adjustable. The manufacturer added a type C charging port, an armrest, and interior lighting for the second row. The rear of the vehicle includes a rear wiper. The trunk capacity is 345 liters, expanding to 1.310 liters when the second row is folded.

The motor in the Dolphin 2026 remains unchanged from its predecessor, located on the front axle, producing 94 horsepower and 180 Nm of torque. Battery capacity increases from 44,9 kWh to 50,25 kWh, extending the range by 30 km, to 435 km.

The BYD Dolphin 2026's safety system adds features such as a tire pressure monitoring system and front collision sensors.

The Dolphin is positioned in the B-segment hatchback category, where many gasoline-powered models have ceased sales in recent years due to low demand and the rising popularity of SUVs. The Dolphin competes with pure electric rivals from domestic manufacturers like Geely EX2 (459-499 million dong) and Dongfeng Box (499-629 million dong), as well as gasoline cars such as the Suzuki Swift (569-577 million dong).
