The incident involved a white car that overtook another vehicle immediately after an intersection. The driver then swerved sharply towards the curb, hitting an elderly woman who was cycling slowly. The car's mirror and front bumper struck her bicycle, causing her to fall onto the road. The driver did not stop to check on the victim or address the situation, instead continuing to leave the scene until reminded by an occupant of a vehicle with a dashcam.

Drivers should always reduce speed and check rearview mirrors and blind spots before pulling over or changing direction. Overtaking on the right is prohibited. When driving near vulnerable road users, drivers must maintain a minimum distance of one to 1,5 meters to prevent them from losing balance.

Importantly, stopping the vehicle, preserving the scene, and assisting injured individuals are fundamental traffic etiquette and mandatory legal obligations for all drivers.

A similar incident occurred on 14/3 on Xo Viet Nghe Tinh street, Ho Chi Minh City (TP HCM). In that case, a driver intentionally fled after causing an accident by opening a car door.
