On 3/7, a dangerous traffic incident occurred on Vanh Dai 3. A taxi, initially in the lane closest to the median, abruptly slowed down and swerved right towards an exit. This maneuver was performed despite the taxi having already passed the designated chevron markings, even driving over them.
This sudden action forced vehicles behind to brake hard. A passenger bus swerved into the right lane to avoid colliding with the taxi, which in turn compelled the dashcam-equipped car to make an emergency swerve to the right to prevent hitting the bus.
According to Decree 168/2024 on traffic penalties, a vehicle changing lanes in an unauthorized area is subject to a fine of 4-6 million VND.
Drivers who miss an exit must continue to the next interchange to turn around or exit the route, rather than suddenly decelerating or cutting across multiple lanes. For following vehicles, maintaining a safe distance from the car ahead allows sufficient space for emergency braking in unexpected situations. In an emergency, drivers should prioritize braking straight and maintaining steering stability. Swerving should only be considered when there is a clear and safe space in the adjacent lane, and turn signals should be activated early when changing direction.
A similar incident was recorded on 22/6 on the Ha Noi - Thai Nguyen expressway near Quyet Thang. A passenger car, traveling at high speed in the lane closest to the median, suddenly activated its right turn signal and braked sharply, almost coming to a complete stop.
