Great Wall Motor (GWM) recently filed an application for the upgraded version of the Ora Ballet Cat. This electric hatchback is often likened to a replica of the legendary Volkswagen Beetle due to similar design lines. The engine in the upcoming new version has been refined for more power.
Positioned as a car exclusively for women, the Ora Ballet Cat boasts many unique features, such as: lady driving, which automatically maintains a greater distance from the vehicle ahead; a selfie camera in the cabin located on the A-pillar; and the warm man mode, which automatically activates the heating and air conditioning with a single button press to alleviate discomfort for female drivers during sensitive periods.
The Ora Ballet Cat first launched in the Chinese market in 2022 with prices ranging from 193,000 to 223,000 yuan (USD 28,480-32,905). Its exterior design draws clear inspiration from the legendary "bug" Volkswagen Beetle, featuring similar body proportions, prominent wheel arches, a nearly flat windshield, and a roofline that slopes steeply to the rear.

Despite its many features catering to women, the Ballet Cat has been a veritable sales flop. According to data from China EV DataTracker, cumulative sales for this model from 7/2022 to 6/2026 reached only 8,523 units.
However, GWM decided to retain the model within Ora's product lineup and proceed with a cyclical upgrade. According to information from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the model may be renamed Ora 6. This move aligns the Beetle replica with the company's new numerical naming strategy, moving away from previous "cat"-related names. Previously, GWM launched the Ora 5 hatchback in the Italy market and is preparing to release the Ora 7 electric wagon.
Regarding design, the upgraded Ora Ballet Cat retains the silhouette of its predecessor, with rounded headlights integrated into the fenders, accompanied by numerous chrome-plated details around the body. The charging port is located on the front fender.
The car measures 4,401 x 1,853 x 1,681 mm (length x width x height), with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. It uses 18-inch wheels and has an unladen weight of 1,750 kg.
The most significant upgrade lies in the powertrain. The new Ora Ballet Cat features an electric motor producing 201 horsepower, an increase of 40 horsepower from the previous version's 169 horsepower. Consequently, the car's top speed increases from 155 km/h to 180 km/h. It uses an LFP battery supplied by Svolt—a GWM subsidiary—though the specific battery capacity remains undisclosed.
