The Dongfeng Nissan joint venture has unveiled a new electric crossover, the NX7. This launch is part of Nissan's strategy to expand its new energy vehicle (NEV) product line in China, with the NX7 positioned below the existing NX8 model.

The NX7 adopts design elements from the NX8, incorporating significant refinements. A key feature at the front is the redesigned split led headlight system, positioned on either side of the closed grille, which integrates an illuminated Nissan logo. Unlike previous models, the upper daytime running led strip is no longer a continuous design, and the main headlight cluster below features a simpler form.

The NX7 is positioned as a smaller model than the NX8 in the Chinese market.

The NX7 is positioned between the NX8 and Rogue (X-Trail).

The NX7's body features a sculpted hood with prominent lines, hidden door handles, and flat wheel arches devoid of plastic cladding. The rear design is familiar, showcasing a continuous led taillight strip. A unique design element of the NX7 is its C-pillar, which incorporates a dark trim strip connecting the rear quarter window to the rear windshield.

A LiDAR sensor on the roof, coupled with surrounding sensors, suggests the vehicle is equipped with an advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS). Regarding dimensions, the NX7 is projected to be sized between the Rogue (known as X-Trail in some markets), which measures 4,648 mm long, and the NX8, with an overall length of 4,870 mm.

While detailed specifications remain unannounced, the NX7 is expected to be built on the Tianyan NEV platform. This architecture is already utilized for the N6, N7 sedan models and the NX8 crossover. The NX8 currently offers both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrain options, features a front-wheel drive (FWD) configuration, and uses CATL's LFP batteries.

The official pricing for the NX7 is yet to be announced, but the manufacturer has confirmed that its starting price will be lower than the NX8's approximate 22,200 USD. Nissan has not disclosed whether the NX7 will be exported to other markets or remain exclusive to the Chinese market.

The Nissan NX7 is scheduled for an official launch in late 2026.
