Electric motorcycle startup: Vietnamese must master design

By launching an electric motorcycle design competition, tech startup Aves aims for Vietnamese people to master every aspect, from ideas and design to technology and user experience.

Aves, a tech startup, has launched the Aves Future Mobility Challenge, an electric motorcycle design competition. The initiative aims to foster design autonomy among Vietnamese people, empowering them to master every aspect from initial concepts and design to technology and user experience. Le Hoang Long, co-founder and chief commercial officer of Aves, emphasized the need for more platforms dedicated to industrial creativity and design in Vietnam.

Through the challenge, Long envisions electric motorcycle products that are designed and manufactured entirely in Vietnam. "We want to open up the challenge to the community, to gain new perspectives on styling, functionality, and how a vehicle should be designed for Vietnamese people," Long stated. He added that Aves seeks to create "tailor-made products" that cater to Vietnamese users' physique, posture, travel habits, aesthetics, and lifestyle.

Long highlighted the competition's role in nurturing talent: "Beyond seeking beautiful designs, these competitions will provide opportunities for young people to tackle real-world challenges, debate, experiment, and gradually develop a product-oriented mindset."

The Aves Future Mobility Challenge seeks to discover and honor new electric motorcycle ideas and designs that combine aesthetic appeal, functionality, and high practical application. The competition is open to designers, engineers, students, and the creative community who understand the actual mobility needs of Vietnamese people. Participants can register and submit their entries online.

This year's competition offers total prizes worth up to 265 million VND, divided into two main categories: Applied Design and Conceptual Design. The Applied Design category features three awards: Excellent, Impressive, and Potential, valued at 100 million, 60 million, and 40 million VND respectively, which include Aves electric motorcycle vouchers. The Conceptual Design category also has three awards, valued at 30 million, 15 million, and 10 million VND. Additionally, the Community Choice category will honor one award, valued at 10 million VND. Participants or teams may register for both categories simultaneously.

The Aves Future Mobility Challenge 2026 will open for registration and submissions from 8:00 on 21/9 until the end of 27/10. The submission portal will close on 28/10, with community voting opening until 4/11. The organizing committee is expected to award prizes on 5/12 in Hanoi.

A representative of the judging panel stated that they will independently evaluate submissions and score them on a 100-point scale. Entries selected for the next round will require participants to present and directly answer questions from the panel.

The competition is organized by tech startup Aves, in partnership with VnExpress.
