Lexus GX 2027 adds convenience features

The new luxury SUV model focuses on interior equipment and feature improvements, with prices slightly increasing from USD 69,100.

Lexus, the Japanese luxury brand, has introduced the new version of its GX SUV for the US market. The 2027 GX retains its exterior design, with Lexus prioritizing upgrades to interior comfort and features.

The 2027 GX is available in the US market in 6 versions, priced from USD 69,100 to USD 85,000. This new pricing represents a slight increase over the previous model, ranging from USD 600 to USD 1,600 depending on the version.

A key upgrade for the 2027 GX is the SmartAccess automatic door system, now standard across the entire lineup. This system allows for keyless entry for all four doors and the tailgate. Additionally, ventilated second-row seats are now equipped on the Luxury, Luxury+, and Overtrail+ versions.

The GX 2027's exterior remains unchanged from the previous model.

The GX 2027's grille features a rugged, masculine design, complemented by LED headlights.

LED headlights are linked by a thin LED strip. The rear bumper is also rugged.

The overall interior design of the GX 2027 is retained from the previous version.

The control cluster for drive modes and differential selection is designed for off-road use.

The new 2027 GX adds ventilated second-row seats.

The third-row seats offer generous legroom.

Beyond the added convenience features and optional LED cargo area lighting, the 2027 GX largely maintains the specifications of its predecessor. It continues to utilize a 3.4 V6 twin-turbo engine, producing 349 horsepower and 649 Nm of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission and a standard full-time four-wheel drive system transmit power. The vehicle's maximum towing capacity remains at 4,126 kg.

While Lexus has not provided specific explanations for the price increase across individual models, import tariffs are considered a contributing factor. The GX is manufactured at Toyota's Tahara plant in Japan, making models exported to the US subject to a 15% tariff applied to imported vehicles from Japan.

Toyota previously announced an anticipated annual loss of USD 8,79 billion due to US tariffs, although this estimate was later reduced by USD 446 million. The company is also facing an increase in raw material costs, particularly for aluminum and electronic components, estimated at approximately USD 7,64 billion. Toyota plans to offset about half of these increased costs through gradual price adjustments. Currency fluctuations are not identified as a primary cause, as Toyota reported a positive impact from exchange rates in its most recent financial statement.

The price increase for the 2027 model year continues a trend from the previous year, when this imported SUV lineup saw a USD 2,750 increase across all 6 versions in 2026. Since its launch in 2024, the price of the standard GX has risen by USD 4,835, while the Overtrail+ is now USD 7,760 more expensive. Furthermore, the hybrid version previously promised by Lexus has yet to appear. When it is eventually launched, its price will undoubtedly be higher than current versions.
