Passenger bus swerves sharply to avoid oncoming motorbike

A bus driver was forced to swerve onto the road shoulder to avoid an oncoming motorbike in Xuan Quang on 19/6, just after exiting a bend.

On 19/6 in Xuan Quang, a bus driver narrowly avoided a head-on collision with an oncoming motorbike. During a rainy day with limited visibility, two individuals on a motorbike entered the wrong lane near a bend. As a passenger bus emerged from the turn, its driver quickly swerved right onto the road shoulder. Fortunately, no impact occurred, and the shoulder was clear of people or other vehicles.

A similar incident occurred on 30/3/2025 in Ha Tinh, where a motorbike crashed head-on into an oncoming vehicle at a bend. Video: CTV

This incident highlights crucial driving skills. All vehicles must remain in their designated lanes, avoiding encroachment or driving against traffic, which poses significant safety risks for both themselves and other road users, particularly in adverse weather conditions. Motorcyclists intending to cross the road should approach their desired crossing point, stay in the correct lane, and wait until there are no oncoming vehicles before proceeding. This caution is especially vital at bends, where visibility is often obscured in both directions.

For bus drivers, reducing speed is imperative when navigating sharp bends, areas with obscured visibility, and challenging weather conditions like rain or slippery roads.
