For a long time before 2023, the most accessible new cars on the market were A-segment hatchbacks. However, their prices never dropped below 200 million dong. The emergence of electric vehicles, particularly micro-car models, broke this price floor, providing consumers with more affordable car choices.
Among the list of the five cheapest car models in Vietnam, electric vehicles account for four options, all of which are 4-seat micro-cars. The VinFast VF 2 has the lowest price at 188 million dong. The Bestune Xiaoma, imported from Trung Quoc, is 11 million dong more expensive.
The VF 2 is essentially a version optimized for individual customers, derived from the Minio Green, VinFast's dedicated service vehicle. Both models share the same motor, battery, and operating range. The differences lie in their equipment and minor design adjustments. The VinFast Minio Green is priced at 269 million dong.

Another VinFast product on the list of the five cheapest cars is the VF 3, priced at 302 million dong. This model is currently a significant revenue generator for VinFast, alongside the Limo Green.
Priced approximately 20 million dong higher than the VF 3 is the manual transmission version of the Kia Morning, assembled and distributed by Truong Hai. The Morning was once one of the best-selling models in both the overall industry and its segment. However, the appeal of the A-segment hatchback category has generally declined, and the Morning's sales, which averaged thousands of units per month during its peak, have now fallen to just a few dozen units per month.
