The Honda Super-N, a kei-car that breaks away from traditional norms, is set to arrive in the UK and Europe this july. Priced under 20,000 British pounds (approximately 26,900 USD), it carries a clear mission: to prove that drivers can experience genuine enjoyment even with two-digit horsepower.
The Super-N is the European variant of Japan's Super-One, which is itself a robust evolution of Honda's N series for the Japanese market, infused with numerous retro elements. It inherits its demeanor from the legendary City Turbo II, featuring large wheel arches and an aggressive front bumper. This design is visually striking enough to make other electric vehicles under 20,000 British pounds, such as the Dacia Spring, appear uninspiring.

Beneath its compact 3,590 mm body, a front-mounted electric motor delivers 63-94 horsepower, with the higher output activated when boost mode is engaged.
Boost mode is more than a simple power increase; it offers a simulated 7-speed gearbox and engine sound, similar to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. This feature aims to provide drivers with an experience akin to old-school sports hatchbacks, thereby convincing internal combustion engine enthusiasts that affordable electric vehicles can also be engaging.
The Super-N's operating range primarily focuses on urban driving, reaching up to 320 km in city conditions. This figure drops to 206 km in combined urban and highway driving. However, this range is considered sufficient for daily needs, as the vehicle is not designed for extensive highway travel.
Inside the cabin, the Super-N offers an engaging driving experience, featuring supportive seats, blue accents, and interior lighting that shifts to purple when boost mode is activated. Honda states that the suspension has been specifically tuned for roads in the UK and Europe.
While sales begin in july, the Super-N will not have an easy path to market dominance. Renault's stylish new Twingo is also set to debut in Europe this year, priced under 20,000 British pounds.
