While the sedan segment generally faces declining sales, the Kia K5 has seen increased appeal amidst rising fuel prices. By the end of august, cumulative sales of the model reached 52,611 units, an increase of 11,2% compared to the same period last year.

For the 2027 model year, the K5 receives minor adjustments and a slightly higher price. The starting price has risen from 27,490 USD to 27,690 USD, a 200 USD increase.

A notable change is the discontinuation of the K5 EX, previously the highest trim. This model once had a starting price of 34,990 USD. Currently, the K5 lineup's top trim is the K5 GT, priced at 33,790 USD.

Additionally, the K5 GT-Line trim now offers a Convenience package, priced at 700 USD. This package includes power-folding mirrors, a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, driver seat memory, and a 10-way power-adjustable passenger seat.

The 700 USD price for these features is appealing; however, customers must also purchase the GT-Line Premium package, which costs 2,200 USD. The Premium package provides a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system, LED interior lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and 18-inch gloss black wheels.

The vehicle is equipped with a 2,5 I4 naturally aspirated engine, producing 186 horsepower and 242 Nm of torque. This engine pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the GT-Line also offers an optional all-wheel drive (AWD) system.

The front-wheel drive version has a stated fuel consumption of 9 liters per 100 km in the city, 6,36 liters per 100 km on the highway, and 7,84 liters per 100 km combined. With the AWD system, the corresponding figures are 10,2; 7,12; and 8,71 liters per 100 km.

For users seeking a sporty driving experience, the K5 GT trim features a 2,5 turbocharged engine, delivering 290 horsepower and 421 Nm of torque. This version comes with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and is only available with front-wheel drive. Despite its superior power, the K5 GT's fuel consumption is comparable to the standard engine with AWD.

In the US, with the 2026 Honda Accord starting from 28,400 USD and the 2027 Toyota Camry from 29,700 USD (both excluding delivery fees), the 2027 Kia K5 continues to be priced lower than some competitors.

The Accord's price is likely to increase similarly for its 2027 model year. Meanwhile, the 2026 Nissan Altima starts from just 27,580 USD, and the 2026 Hyundai Sonata begins at 25,650 USD. Therefore, the market still offers more affordable choices, especially if customers do not necessarily need the latest model year.
