Mazda CX-90 to be sold in Vietnam, priced from 2,479 billion dong

Mazda's largest and most premium SUV is expected to launch in Q2/2026, imported from Japan, featuring a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) engine.

In late january, Mazda dealerships began accepting deposits for early deliveries of the CX-90, slated for mid-2026. Details on the vehicle's features and amenities are currently unavailable. However, dealerships confirm it will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) engine.

The Mazda CX-90 is not sold in Japan; instead, the slightly smaller CX-80 is available there. Like in other international markets where the CX-90 is distributed, the vehicle sold in Vietnam will be fully imported from Japan. In december 2025, the CX-90 was first introduced to Vietnamese customers when its distributor (Thaco) launched the premium Mazda Flagship showroom model in TP HCM.

The vehicle boasts a substantial design with a wheelbase exceeding 3 m.

The cockpit features the latest design language.

The second row features separate seats.

The third row offers ample space for adults.

The CX-90 is built on Mazda's Large Product Group platform, specifically designed for rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive models with longitudinally mounted engines. As part of the Japanese automaker's strategy, two-digit CX models are positioned as more premium than single-digit models, aiming to elevate the brand's image.

Mazda's new model features a substantial design. Its wheelbase measures 3,120 mm, significantly longer than the CX-8 (2,930 mm), the brand's largest SUV currently sold in Vietnam. The CX-90's dimensions are 5,100 x 1,994 x 1,736 mm (length x width x height). These dimensions classify the Mazda CX-90 as a large-sized vehicle, exceeding most E-segment cars. Based on its wheelbase, comparable models include the VinFast VF 9 (1,499-1,699 billion dong) and the Jeep Grand Cherokee L (over 6 billion dong).

The interior design language of the Mazda CX-90 differs from existing Mazda models in the domestic market. The vehicle features a three-row configuration with two middle seats styled as business-class seats.

In the US, the CX-90's plug-in hybrid configuration combines a 2.5 I4 gasoline engine and an electric motor, delivering a total output of 323 horsepower and 500 Nm of peak torque. Its lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 17,8 kWh, providing an all-electric range of approximately 43 km. It features all-wheel drive.

Beyond the CX-90, Thaco also announced plans to distribute the CX-60 and the new-generation CX-5 in 2026. The distributor stated that upon launch, both the current CX-5 and the new CX-5 will remain available. Single-digit CX models, namely the CX-5 and CX-8, will target mainstream customers, while two-digit CX models, the CX-60 and CX-90, will cater to a more premium clientele. In terms of size, the order from smallest to largest is CX-5 - CX-60 - CX-8 - CX-90.
