Japanese automaker Mitsubishi unveiled a commercial for its new SUV model to rally racing enthusiasts, evoking the brand's past glory, though its current presence is diminished.

According to Carscoops, a Dakar-winning Pajero appeared crossing a desert, before the new SUV model was shown at the end of the video. This SUV model resembles the prototype observed during testing and development in mid-2025, though with less camouflage.

The new SUV features a boxy exterior with sharp lines, characteristic of off-road vehicles. Its body proportions are reminiscent of body-on-frame SUVs; the hood is sculpted with creases, while the fenders are squared. It also has vertical led lights on the front bumper and a robust C-pillar.

The appearance of the new SUV in the video has fueled speculation about the return of the Pajero Sport to Mitsubishi's product lineup. The Pajero Sport, which has been in production since 1996, is based on the Triton platform.

Mitsubishi has not yet confirmed details about the mysterious model, but it is expected to appear at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show, an event scheduled from 9-11/1.
