The brazen theft in Los Angeles left passersby initially mistaking the high-end sports car for a common Mazda. However, the subsequent arrival of law enforcement confirmed its true identity: a Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet.
The convertible was found as a mere shell on the roadside, so thoroughly stripped that it prompted many to question the significant time and effort required for such an extensive disassembly.

The vehicle was missing all 4 wheels, its suspension system, the 6-cylinder engine, the pdk gearbox, and most of its exterior and interior parts.
While thieves commonly target easier items like headlights or wheels, this incident stands as a stark exception. Most valuable components were gone, leaving behind only a bare metal shell with a few remaining wires as the sole indication of its former completeness.
According to some observations, high-demand parts can fetch substantial sums when sold individually, often totaling more than the car's overall value. By abandoning the vehicle's frame, the thieves also left behind the most crucial element: the chassis bearing the vehicle identification number (VIN).
Police confirmed the car's theft and stated that the registered owner has been notified. The case has now been handed over to investigators, who will endeavor to trace the origin of the theft.
The cost to locate and reinstall all missing components would far exceed the vehicle's value, rendering this older Porsche likely destined for the scrapyard or destruction.
